October 27, 2017, Shanghai – On October 27, 2017, the 13th China Brand "Golden Elephant Awards" ceremony was held in Shanghai, specialty chemicals company LANXESS won the "Best CSR Case" award with its “Open to Public Day” project at this year’s award ceremony.

Since 2012, LANXESS has held nine "Open to Public Day" events in Changzhou, Wuxi, Qingdao and Liyang production sites, nearly 2,000 residents, teachers and students, professionals, volunteers and media representatives were invited to visit LANXESS, to understand how LANXESS take the environmental responsibilities to promote eco-friendly as well as green development as a member of the chemical industry.
In June this year, nearly 400 teachers and students from Qingdao Fenyang Road Primary School and Liyang Nandu Junior Middle School visited LANXESS’ Qingdao and Liyang production sites respectively. They walked into the chemical company and observed the production processes, products and the disposal of waste gas, waste water and solid waste, to understand of how the modern chemical industry realizes harmonious coexistence with an eco-friendly society. LANXESS also introduced the visitors to practical safety knowledge and encouraged students to explore chemistry through activities such as safety classes, chemical classes, plant visits, donation of chemical experiment kits and scholarships.

From 2010 to 2015, specific greenhouse gas emissions of LANXESS have been reduced by 17%, LANXESS set a new climate protection goal in early 2016, aiming its greenhouse gas emission to be further reduced 25% by 2025 compared that of 2015.
